Description

D/D South Die Markers: Obverse: Stage A: A faint die scratch runs SSE from the tail of the 1 in the date. A light die gouge shows to the northeast of the upper eyelid. Heavy die gouges connected to a N-S die scratch show to the right of the E in WE. A small die gouge (dot) shows on the northeast edge of the B in VDB. A did gouge shows on the shoulder, well north of the B in VDB. Stage B: SSE die scratch from 1 in date extremely faint. All other Stage A markers much weaker but visible. Die gouge touching under left side of 8 in the date. Die gouge south of second T in TRUST. Several small die gouges show behind Lincoln’s lower hair. Reverse: Stage A: A die gouge shows on the left memorial base under column 1. A die chip and crack runs from the upper right side of O in ONE into the upper left corner of the N in ONE. A pair of strong die gouges show to the east of the lower E in ONE. Stage B: New reverse die. A tiny die gouge shows in the field left of column 1. A die gouge shows in the field north of the F in FG.
