1989 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-010 / RPM-010

Description

WRPM-010, which VarietyVista numbers RPM-010, is a D/D Tilted repunched mint mark on the 1989-D Lincoln Memorial cent, which Wexler records in two die stages. Wexler gives CONECA RPM #10 and Coppercoins 1989D-1MM-008 as cross-references; VarietyVista gives none. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties credits Brian Allen as the submitter. On the stage A obverse, a series of die scratches runs southeast from the lower part of the 19 in the date toward the lower vest, with scratches on the left side of the mint mark and at its upper left. By stage B those scratches have worn away and prominent die deterioration lines show above the 89 of the date. Wexler noted no reverse markers for stage A, because bubbles on the coin limited the evaluation; in stage B a small die gouge sits to the right of the upper serif on the first S of STATES. VarietyVista, which also credits Brian Allen and also calls the mint mark D/D Tilted, follows the die under its marker codes UVC-3121 and DMR-011. In stage A both sides are in an early die state, and in stage B both are in a middle die state. A late stage C is listed but VarietyVista has not confirmed it.
