Description
1985D-1DEO-001T is a Denver 1985 cent obverse with trails off the tops of the letters of the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, running toward 060°, east-northeast, up and to the right. TrailDies' number joins the 1985 date and D mint mark, the cent's 1, DEO for the obverse, file 001 and T for trails. TrailDies lists the coin at stage C and could not confirm any die markers on either side because of the coin's condition, so the motto trails and their direction are what identify it. Bob Piazza of Florida found the die. Most accounts attribute trails to polishing of the die with a rotary buff, while some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “C”, Obverse and reverse are MDS– Due to the condition of the coin, verifiable markers could not be found.
