1985 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-024

Description

Cross-referenced by Coppercoins as 1985D-1MM-010, WRPM-024 on the 1985-D Lincoln Memorial cent occupies a challenging attribution niche — markedly similar to both WRPM-019 and WRPM-021 in mint mark placement, with its position slightly further southeast than WRPM-019 yet closely resembling WRPM-021. Die markers become the critical differentiator among these three look-alike varieties, and collectors should consult reference materials for all three when attempting attribution. The similarity illustrates how Denver's punch-and-correct process could produce nearly identical positional outcomes from distinct die preparation events, each die carrying its own unique pattern of gouges, scratches, and structural features formed independently during manufacture. The Coppercoins cross-reference provides a secondary identification pathway for variety specialists.
