Description

The final VarietyVista repunched mint mark for the 1985-D cent, RPM-010 exhibits a D/D Rotated CCW — the secondary mint mark impression rotated counterclockwise relative to the primary punch. This rotational displacement sets RPM-010 apart from the directional shifts (southeast, west, east) seen on other 1985-D entries, as it indicates the punch tool was not merely offset spatially but oriented at a different angle during the initial impression. Cataloged as UVC-2818 with die marker record DMR-011, the jump in UVC number from the 991-999 range of RPM-001 through RPM-009 suggests this variety was cataloged later than the others. Stage A records both obverse and reverse in early-to-mid die state, while Stages B and C remain unconfirmed. Rotational RPMs are among the most visually interesting repunched mint marks because the angular offset between primary and secondary impressions creates a distinctive overlapping pattern rather than a simple directional shift. Struck at Denver on copper-plated zinc planchets composed of 97.5% zinc and 2.5% copper, weighing 2.5 grams and measuring 19mm, from the 1985 mintage of over 5.65 billion cents.
