1977 (S) Proof Eisenhower Dollar - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-003

Description

1977-S WDDO-003 is a doubled die obverse on the 1977-S proof Eisenhower dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY and the date show strong doubling with Class I rotation. It is stronger on IN GOD WE TRUST than on ERTY of LIBERTY, and the upper hair is doubled as well. Wexler places the rotation point between the center and K3 at the rim. On the obverse, a scratch on the neck under the jaw runs nearly parallel to the jawline. Wexler notes no reverse markers. Dale Ericson submitted the variety, with photos by Billy G. Crawford. CONECA lists it as 2-O-I.
