Description

The primary attributed DDO variety for the 1974-D Eisenhower Dollar, WDDO-001 is cataloged by the Wexler Team and represents the principal doubled die obverse reference point for this Denver Mint date. Doubled die obverses on Eisenhower Dollars result from misalignment during the hub-to-die transfer process, where a working die receives two or more impressions from a working hub at slightly different orientations, producing displaced secondary images of the obverse design. Collectors attributing specimens should inspect LIBERTY, the date, and IN GOD WE TRUST under magnification for evidence of hub displacement. The Eisenhower Dollar, designed by Frank Gasparro and struck from 1971 through 1978, features President Dwight D.
