1971 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001
Error
Description
A very strong Class II spread towards the rim shows on the letters of LIBERTY and IGWT. A spread towards the north shows on the date. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Several short die scratches running from north to south can be found below the ER of LIBERTY. Obverse Stage B: Numerous die scratches running from north to south can be found in front of the head and die scratches running from NNW to SSE can be found in back of the head. Reverse Stage A: Two short, parallel die scratches run from WSW to ENE on the roof above the 4th column. A die scratch runs from WNW to ESE between the lower A and T in STATES. Reverse Stage B: A horizontal die scratch can be found below the LURIB of PLURIBUS. Two parallel die scratches run from WSW to ENE below the last S of STATES and the O in OF. Two die scratches run from NW to SE through the upper T in CENT. Numerous die scratches run from east to west through the Memorial. Other die scratches can be found throughout the reverse.
