Description
1970-S WDDO-013 is a doubled die obverse on the 1970-S Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling shows beneath the 7's crossbar and under both the top and the bottom of the 0. At obverse Stage A, a twisting gouge, running mostly SSW/NNE, crosses the back of the forehead. By obverse Stage B, heavy abrasion of the die has left many scratches, mostly SW/NE, all around the bust. On the reverse at Stage A, a small gouge touches the lower left of UNITED's D. At reverse Stage B, heavy abrasion of the reverse has produced a "detached roof" on the Memorial's left side. Frank Baumann submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
