Description

This 1970-S Lincoln Memorial Cent (Small Date) doubled die obverse, WDDO-010, is cataloged by Wexler (doubleddie.com). The die shows tripling above the horizontal bar of the 7 in the date. Obverse Stage A: strong die clash marks left of the back of the neck, a clash mark below the front of the chin, and numerous SW-to-NE die scratches left of the bust. Obverse Stage B: weaker clash marks, new abrasion scratches left of the bust, and two parallel SW-to-NE die scratches right of the lower N of IN. Reverse Stage A: a short, strong die gouge runs north from the upper right of the D in UNITED, with short, strong die scratches north of the top right of the Memorial roof.
