Documented by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-548 and DMR-005, this 1970-S proof Roosevelt Dime displays an S/S Tilted repunched mintmark — meaning the secondary S impression was applied at a rotational angle relative to the primary, creating an offset where different parts of the letter show varying degrees of separation rather than a uniform directional shift. Three documented die stages capture its production timeline: Stage A places both the obverse and reverse in early die state (EDS), Stage B is mid-die-state (MDS, unconfirmed), and Stage C is late die state (LDS, unconfirmed). The confirmed EDS Stage A provides the cleanest view of the tilted repunch before any progressive die deterioration might obscure the diagnostic details. As a proof coin, this Roosevelt Dime was struck at the San Francisco Mint on specially polished planchets using polished dies to achieve mirror-like fields, a production method that actually enhances the visibility of repunched mintmark features because the reflective surface provides superior contrast against any raised anomalies near the S. The Roosevelt Dime was designed by John R.
