1970 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-010
Error
Description
Returning to the above-the-7 doubling location, DDO-010 on the 1970 Lincoln Memorial cent presents medium spread with light hubbing — an extra bar above the 7 where the hub displacement was moderate but the secondary impression depth was shallow. Tracked under die markers UVC-2829 and DMR-011, this variety occupies an intermediate position between the fully medium-strength varieties (DDO-002, DDO-004) and the light-spread specimens (DDO-008, DDO-009). The medium spread means the horizontal separation between primary and secondary elements is clearly measurable, while light hubbing indicates the secondary bar is thin and does not carry the full relief of the primary design. DDO-010's UVC number in the 2800s places it in the same cataloging wave as DDO-007 through DDO-009, all documented as researchers expanded the known DDO census beyond initial discoveries. Philadelphia's 1970 production demanded an enormous number of working dies, each representing an individual hubbing event where misalignment could introduce doubling.
