1970 Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

1970 WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 1970 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling sits under the L's horizontal bar in LIBERTY and over the 7's horizontal bar in the date. On the obverse, parallel scratches lead SE off the lower part of the date's 1, and north-south scratches lie beneath the 0 of the date and beneath the T in LIBERTY. On the reverse, a short gouge sits over the A in STATES and a small one under its 2nd S, and many scratches cover the rest of the reverse. Frank Baumann submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
