Description

Cross-referenced as Fivaz-Stanton FS-501, this 1969-S proof Jefferson Nickel leads the RPM catalog for the date, documented by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-438 / DMR-003. The S/S East (Proof) displacement shows the secondary S shifted eastward. Three stages: Stage A with obverse and reverse at EDS; Stage B with both at MDS; Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed). The FS-501 Cherrypickers' listing validates this as a recognized variety commanding a premium. Composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel, weighing 5.0 grams with a 21.21 mm diameter. Struck as a proof at the San Francisco Mint for inclusion in annual collector proof sets. As RPM-001 with FS-501 recognition, this represents the primary and most significant repunched mintmark for the 1969-S proof date.
