1969-S Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

Confirmed on a San Francisco Mint proof strike, WDDR-003 on the 1969-S Jefferson Nickel presents close Class II distorted hub doubling on E PLURIBUS UNUM and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The distorted hub mechanism creates a doubling pattern where the spread varies by position on the die, distinguishing it from the uniform displacement of Class I rotated hub doubling. Die markers on the reverse include a die gouge on the lower left side of the E of STATES, providing a secondary diagnostic for attribution independent of the doubling itself.
