1968 (S) Proof Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001 / DDO-008

Description

Attributed by VarietyVista with marker codes UVC-519 and DMR-010 and cross-referenced as Cherrypickers FS-102, the 1968-S DDO-008 is a doubled die obverse on the proof Roosevelt dime that Wexler numbers WDDO-001. Wexler describes a Class I counterclockwise spread on the date, the designer's initials, IN GOD WE TRUST and LIBERTY. It finds no significant obverse markers and notes a Type 1 reverse. Frank Baumann submitted the coin. Wexler cross-references it as CONECA 8-O-I and Cherrypickers FS-10-1968-102 (020.2). VarietyVista describes a medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, the designer's initials and the date, and a light spread on LIBERTY and on the hair at the head's back. It names no reporter, gives the reverse as its design variety RDV-001 (weak flame), and cites FS-102. It follows the die through three stages: at Stage A both sides are in an early die state, at Stage B both are in a middle state, and at Stage C both are late, with heavy abrasion noted.
