Attributed by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-519 and DMR-010 and cross-referenced as FS-102 (Fivaz-Stanton), the 1968-S DDO-008 Roosevelt Dime is one of the most broadly spread doubled die obverses in the series, displaying medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, John R. Sinnock's designer initials JS, and the date, with light spread on LIBERTY and the hair at the back of the head. The FS-102 cross-reference indicates this variety is significant enough to be included in the Cherrypickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties, the standard reference work compiled by Bill Fivaz and J.T. Stanton for collectors seeking undervalued die varieties in circulation and dealer inventories. Three die stages are documented: Stage A shows early die state with both obverse and reverse in EDS; Stage B presents mid-die state with both obverse and reverse in MDS; Stage C reaches late die state with a heavily abraded obverse and reverse in LDS. The variety also carries the notation that the reverse is RDV-001 (weak flame), identifying the specific reverse die variety as one with a weaker-than-normal torch flame — a reverse design characteristic independent of the obverse doubling but useful for complete die pair identification.
