1968 (S) Proof Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

1968-S WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 1968-S proof Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is a strong clockwise spread. It can be seen on ONE DIME, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLUR, the M of UNUM, the lower part of the left branch and the flames atop the torch. On the obverse, a small die gouge touches the Y of LIBERTY at its upper left. The reverse is the Type 1 reverse. Two die scratches head southwest from the lower right of the first A in AMERICA; a small gouge lies left of the tip of the leftmost (first) flame at the torch top; and a gouge sits above the C in AMERICA, over its top right side. Tony Russo submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
