Description

Class I Rotated Hub Doubling with a very nice clockwise spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, the star, the date, and designer's initials FS on this 1968-S Proof Jefferson Nickel. Obverse: die dot below IN. Reverse: die dot between R and I of PLURIBUS; slanted die scratch below RIB of PLURIBUS. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID: 1968-S WDDO-010 Proof, attributed by Brian A. Ribar. The 1968-S marks the return of mintmarks after the 1965-1967 moratorium. San Francisco produced approximately 3.04 million proof sets in 1968, with mirror-like fields making hub doubling particularly visible.
