Description
The 1968-S Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-006 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1968 (S) Proof Jefferson Nickel, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: Obverse: The mint mark on 1968-S Pr WDDO-006 is much farther from the 8 than on 1968-S Pr WDDO-004. The mint mark on 1968-S Pr WDDO-002 is tilted slightly. On 1968-S Pr WDDO-006, it is perfectly vertical. Reverse: Die gouge (dot) below small right window.
