Description

Obverse Stage A: Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: The obverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die files as 1963 10¢ WDDO-008. A spread towards the center shows on the date, the hair lines on the lower back of the head, and the designer's initials. Strong scratch south from the S of the designer's initials. Obverse Stage B: Large die chip on the nose above the nostril. Reverse Stage A: Series of NE/SW die scratches above the US of PLURIBUS. Fan shaped die scratches below the US of PLURIBUS. Die scratch SSW from the left lower acorn through the US of PLURIBUS. Die scratch NE from the lower olive to the stem of the left lower leaves. Reverse Stage B: Die gouge at the left upper side of the A in STATES. Die gouge in the field located between the IC of AMERICA and closer to the rim. All die scratches at the US of PLURIBUS are gone except for the SSW scratch that now runs only through the US of PLURIBUS.
