1963 (D) Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

1963-D WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 1963-D Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A spread toward the center appears on the arrowheads, the wreath, UNITED STATES and QUARTER DOLLAR. On the obverse, a WSW/ENE crack crosses the upper hair, and another crack crosses the bust's base and lower queue, reaching into the field left of the 1 in the date covering nearly two-thirds of the distance to the rim. On the reverse, a crack descends the eagle's right wing into the field over the Q in QUARTER, and a scratch heads NW off the middle of the P in PLURIBUS. Kevin Flynn submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
