1962 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Repunched Mintmark RPM-006

Description

Designated D/D/D West, East by VarietyVista, the 1962-D Lincoln Memorial Cent RPM-006 records a triple-punched mintmark where the D was first displaced to the west, then to the east, before reaching its final position; remnants of both mispunched impressions flank the primary D. Cataloged as UVC-858 / DMR-008, this variety has been documented across three die stages. Stage A finds the obverse in early-to-mid die state (EMDS) with a minute die chip already present on column #12 of the reverse, suggesting the reverse die may have entered service with a minor pre-existing imperfection. By Stage B (MDS), a die crack has appeared in the hair on Lincoln's portrait, and the die chip on column #12 has grown to a small but clearly visible size. Stage C is recorded simply as LDS with an unconfirmed attribution, indicating that specimens in very late die state have been tentatively identified but not yet fully verified against the established die markers.
