The 1961 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-009 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1961 Proof Jefferson Nickel, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: Obverse: A weak diagonal die scratch at the back of Jefferson's forehead just under his hairline. Reverse: Listed as 1961 Pr 5c WDDR-045.
