1960 Proof Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse DDO-018

Description

Eighteen doubled die obverses cataloged for the 1960 Roosevelt Silver Dime reflect both the prolific die production of that year and the intensive variety research applied to the 90% silver dime series. DDO-018 displays medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST and the L of LIBERTY, with light spread also detectable on the date — a distribution of doubling that spans the upper obverse inscription and extends to the lower date area. Die markers documented under UVC-724 and DMR-025 chart three stages: Stage A in Early Die State (unconfirmed), Stage B showing both obverse and reverse in confirmed Mid-Die State, and Stage C in Late Die State (unconfirmed). The confirmed MDS observation in Stage B establishes a baseline die condition that collectors can use for comparison when evaluating newly discovered specimens. Cataloged by VarietyVista, DDO-018 contributes to a robust census of Roosevelt Silver Dime varieties from a period when hand-operated hub presses were still the norm for die production.
