1960 Proof Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse DDO-012

Description

Pronounced extra thickness appears on the designer’s initials from top to bottom, across IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, and the entire hair line and back of the neck on this 1960 Proof Roosevelt Dime doubled die obverse. The unusual spread pattern affects multiple design elements simultaneously, producing a bold visual effect across Lincoln-era proof coinage. Die markers are cataloged as UVC-345 DMR-014 with three documented die stages: Stage A with obverse and reverse in early die state, Stage B with obverse and reverse in mid die state, and Stage C in late die state (unconfirmed). Attributed by VarietyVista as DDO-012, this proof variety was struck at Philadelphia during the era when Roosevelt Dime proofs were standard inclusions in annual proof sets. The breadth of affected design elements — initials, motto, LIBERTY inscription, and the full profile contour — makes this one of the more visually comprehensive doubled die obverses among Roosevelt Dime proofs, offering collectors multiple diagnostic points for attribution on a single coin.
