1960 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-009

Description

This 1960 Proof Roosevelt Dime DDO-009 displays light spread on the designer's initials (top to bottom), IN GOD WE TRUST, and the date. What distinguishes this variety is its richly documented die stage progression under UVC-342 and DMR-011. Stage A at early die state shows a die gouge dot on the 6 of the date, with the reverse also at EDS — the gouge serves as the primary early-state diagnostic. Stage B is unconfirmed at MDS. Stage C at late die state reveals weakened 19 digits in the date caused by die surface abrasion, with the reverse also at LDS — documenting how die wear progressively degraded the date clarity over the die's service life. The contrast between the Stage A die gouge on the 6 and the Stage C abrasion-weakened 19 provides collectors with clear diagnostic markers for determining which die state their specimen represents.
