Description
1956 WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 1956 proof Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A close Class II spread toward the center appears on the bottom of the ribbon and the upper part of the 6 in the date. Wexler notes no significant obverse markers. On the reverse, the upper right wing has a gouge (dot), a vertical scratch sits on the lower right wing over the uppermost leaf, and a short horizontal scratch lies near the top of the left wing. Jose' Cortez submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
