1956 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-001

Description

1956-D WRPM-001 is a repunched mint mark on the 1956-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary D lies north of the primary D (D/D North). On the obverse, a strong die scratch heads north off the bottom left of the bust, and many other scratches appear across the obverse. On the reverse, several curving scratches lie above the left side of the roof; one scratch heads NNE off the N in CENTS and another NW off the V in FIVE; and many other scratches appear across the reverse. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #1. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
