1955 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Over Mint Mark WOMM-011

Description

1955-D WOMM-011 is an over mint mark on the 1955-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The D was punched over an S (D/S). On the obverse, north-south die scratches lie left of the nose and left of the chin, and many other scratches appear across the obverse. On the reverse, short scratches head NW off the roof's right end; two parallel scratches head NE off the top of the dome; a scratch heads WNW off MONTICELLO's N, from its top right; and a scratch links the roof's left tip with the R in PLURIBUS at its bottom left, running NE. Wexler also lists the reverse as a doubled die, 1955-D WDDR-009, with a Class II spread toward the center on STATES OF AMERICA. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as OMM #12.
