1955 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Over Mint Mark WOMM-010

Description

1955-D WOMM-010 is an over mint mark on the 1955-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The D was punched over an S (D/S). On the obverse, three parallel north-south die scratches lie left of the lips and chin. On the reverse, parallel NW-to-SE scratches lie above the roof's right end; a WSW-to-ENE scratch lies above the left roof; a short gouge reaches ESE off Monticello's upper right side; a scratch heads east off the S in CENTS, from its right side; and in UNUM, one scratch heads WSW off the M's bottom right and another SW off the second U's bottom. Wexler also lists the reverse as a doubled die, 1955-D WDDR-005. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as OMM #10.
