1955 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Over Mint Mark WOMM-006

Description

1955-D WOMM-006 is an over mint mark on the 1955-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The D was punched over an S (D/S). Wexler notes no obverse markers. On the reverse, several scratches head SE off the top left of the right arch; a NW-to-SE scratch crosses the second O in MONTICELLO; and another scratch links the bottom of that O with the R in AMERICA at its top left. The submitter is listed as unknown. CONECA lists it as OMM #6. Wexler's comments point to photos of the over mint mark in the 2003 book by Kevin Flynn and John A. Wexler, Over Mintmarks and Hot Repunched Mintmarks (page 48), and in CONECA's The Jefferson Nickel RPM Book (page 141).
