1955 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Over Mint Mark WOMM-005

Description

1955-D WOMM-005 is an over mint mark on the 1955-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The D was punched over an S (D/S). On the obverse, a short die gouge lies left of the I of IN; several SSW-to-NNE scratches lie beside the lower forehead and upper nose, on the left; and a scratch heads SE off the upper queue, reaching the ribbon. On the reverse, a WSW-to-ENE scratch lies left of the lower dome; two scratches head SE off the bottom of the M in MONTICELLO; many scratches run SW from the lower letters of FIVE; a short, nearly horizontal scratch sits in the lower right arch; a vertical scratch lies left of the E of E PLURIBUS UNUM; a SW-to-NE scratch lies beside the M in UNUM, right of its bottom; and other scratches appear across the reverse.
