1955 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Over Mint Mark WOMM-004

Description

1955-D WOMM-004 is an over mint mark on the 1955-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The D was punched over an S (D/S). On the obverse, a SW-to-NE die scratch lies beside the lower lip and upper chin, on their left. On the reverse, a WNW-to-ESE scratch runs just under the mint mark; two short parallel scratches sit between the lower E and P of E PLURIBUS UNUM; MONTICELLO's N and T have a nearly horizontal scratch between them; many other scratches appear across the reverse. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as OMM #4.
