1955 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Over Mint Mark WOMM-003

Description

1955-D WOMM-003 is an over mint mark on the 1955-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes the mint mark as D/D/S (D/D South). On the obverse, parallel north-south die scratches lie above the nose. Wexler also lists the reverse as a doubled die, 1955-D WDDR-004, with close Class II doubling, spread toward the center, on OF AMERICA. NNW-to-SSE scratches run through and right of the D in UNITED, and a scratch heads SE off UNUM's M, from its bottom right. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as OMM #3.
