As the primary catalog entry for the 1954-S date, this VarietyVista-documented Washington Silver Quarter tracks four progressive die stages with cracking that escalates from a single wing crack to multiple concurrent fractures. Die markers UVC-0845 / DMR-002: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C with a die crack down the eagle's right wing at LDS and obverse at LDS; Stage D with the wing crack extending from wing to Q of QUARTER at VLDS, a die crack on the wing under AM of AMERICA, and a die chip on the bust east of the designer's initials at VLDS. The wing crack's expansion from a single line to a branching network reaching the inscription documents progressive structural failure in the heraldic eagle design.
