1950 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-031

Description

1950-D WRPM-031 is a repunched mint mark on the 1950-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated): the secondary D is turned relative to the primary. Obverse Stage A has a long scratch running NNE/SSW behind the shoulder, plus a N/S scratch linking the top of the head with the E of WE at its lower right. Stage B adds a crack that wanders NE from behind the ear to the ear's top, then heads north up to the head's top. On the reverse, Stage A has a scratch heading south through the E of ONE to the T of CENT. Stage B brings a scratch heading SW from the base of the first E in E PLURIBUS into the field above the left wheat stalk, and a north-by-east scratch from the upper left of the T in CENT through the E of ONE. Brian Ribar submitted both stages. Wexler lists no cross-references.
