1950 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-026

Description

1950-D WRPM-026 is a repunched mint mark on the 1950-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated): the secondary D is turned relative to the primary. Obverse Stage A has a scratch heading SW beneath the 9 of the date and a scratch along the rim's edge well below LIBERTY. Stage B adds clashed dies under the neck and two diagonal scratches inside the 0 of the date. Wexler notes no markers for obverse Stage C. Stage D adds a chip in the field over the 0 and a chip between the 9 and 5. On the reverse, Stage A has a chip above the F in OF and a crack on the right edge of the right wheat stalk. Wexler calls Stage B a second reverse, with two diagonal scratches inside the O of ONE and a scratch running south to the bottom edge of the C in CENT. Stage C adds a scratch heading south through the E of ONE, X-shaped scratches and a chip between the CA of AMERICA, and a SW-running scratch under the last A of AMERICA. Stage D adds a chip to the lower right of the E's center arm in CENT. Submitters were David Mulberry (Stage A), Paul Funaiole (Stages B and D) and Brian Ribar (Stage C).
