1950-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-019

Description

Attributed by the Wexler Team, WRPM-019 is a D/D Tilted (Rotated) repunched mintmark variety on the 1950-D Lincoln Wheat Cent — a configuration in which the secondary D impression is rotated relative to the primary, producing a distinctive offset appearance different from a straight north/south or east/west repunching. Collectors should examine the mintmark under 5x–10x magnification for the tilted secondary impression beside or overlapping the primary D. Die markers across the two stages are well documented. Stage A obverse markers include scratches running southeast under the 50 of the date and scratches below V.D.B.; Stage A reverse shows a north-to-south scratch to the right of the E of ONE, a scratch from the bottom of E to the top of T in CENT, and north-to-south scratches along the T of CENT. Stage B obverse sees a die crack develop behind the bust above V.D.B.; no additional reverse markers are recorded for Stage B. Attribution should cross-reference the stage-specific die markers to confirm die state, particularly the Stage B obverse crack, which is a reliable late-state confirmation point. D/D Tilted (Rotated) Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Die scratches run SE under 50 of date ending in the field near the rim. Multiple die scratches in the field below VDB. Reverse Stage A: N/S die scratch to the right of the E of ONE. Die scratch runs from the bottom of the E of ONE ending at the top of the T of CENT. N/S die scratches run along the side of the T of CENT.
