1950 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-012

Description

1950-D WRPM-012 is a repunched mint mark on the 1950-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated): the secondary D is turned relative to the primary. Obverse Stage A has a NW-running gouge in the field behind the lower shoulder, NW of VDB, and three short field gouges around the Y of LIBERTY: one at its lower right, one centered to its left and one at its upper left. On Stage B all the Stage A markers have been polished away; new are a scratch heading NE from the Y's upper right edge to the back of the neck and a long scratch from left of IN to right of GOD. On the reverse, Stage A has a crack that leaves the rim heading NE, turns north up the left wheat stalk's left edge, then NE along its top left edge, and stops in the field under the first E of E PLURIBUS; a chip within the U of UNITED; and a N/S scratch between that word's U and N. Wexler calls Stage B a second reverse, with a crack on the lower left wheat stalk that runs north from the bottom left grain to the lower edge of the 4th grain.
