1950-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-011

Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team, this 1950-D Lincoln Wheat Cent exhibits a D/D Tilted (Rotated) repunched mintmark with die markers across both faces. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID 1950-D 1-cent WRPM-011. Obverse markers: die chips on lower vest to the lower left of mintmark, die gouge above G in GOD toward rim, and E-W die scratches through and under the ear. Reverse markers: die break on lower T in CENT and E-W die scratch under A in AMERICA. The reverse die break on the T documents structural failure in the inscription area. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, the 1950-D was struck at Denver during the early Korean War era, as Brenner's obverse and wheat ears reverse were approaching their final decade of production.
