Description
With an S/S West displacement documented by VarietyVista, this 1947 San Francisco Washington Quarter carries die markers UVC-0662 / DMR-011. All three stages are unconfirmed: Stage A EDS; Stage B MDS; Stage C LDS. The cataloger requests new high-magnification color digital photos. The triple-unconfirmed status suggests cataloging from limited specimen examination, with further examples needed to solidify die state classifications. The westward displacement indicates the initial S was placed east of the intended position. Flanagan's Washington design was struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 6.25 grams and 24.3 mm. The 1947-S had a mintage of approximately 5.5 million pieces. Each working die received its S mintmark through manual punch application at the Philadelphia Mint before shipment to San Francisco.
