1947 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-007

Description

1947-S WRPM-007 is a repunched mint mark on the 1947-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary S lies west of the primary S (S/S West). On the obverse, NW/SE die scratches cross the BE of LIBERTY, and north-south scratches lie under the chin. On the reverse, NNW/SSE scratches sit inside the right archway, while heavy north-south scratches mark the dome's lower left side and the roof window; the left archway holds a north-south scratch; and a scratch links the first L in MONTICELLO, at its lower center, with the top of the S in CENTS, running south. Brian Ribar submitted the variety, and Wexler's comments note that he took the photo of the RPM. Wexler lists no cross-references.
