Description

Class II Distorted Hub Doubling shows very close doubling on RIBUS UNUM on this second DDR for the 1947-S Jefferson Nickel, attributed by Whaden Curtis. The tight doubling requires magnification — typical of Class II where the hub deforms slightly between impressions. Die markers: obverse die scratch above 1 and 9 of date, die crack across top of Jefferson's head; reverse die scratch right of center bar of E in CENTS, die scratch below B of PLURIBUS. The head crack is a progressive marker aiding die stage determination. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID: 1947-S WDDR-002.
