1947 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

1947 WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 1947 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. USA, the left side of CENT's C, EPU, the dots, and both wheat ears and stems show extremely strong extra thickness. Obverse marker: a SSW scratch from the back of the head to the left of the ear's center. Reverse markers: a NW-to-SE scratch through the upper right of OF's F; a SW scratch from the bottom center of the E in STATES; an ENE scratch from the upper right of ONE's N; and a gouge (dot) near the top of the right wheat stem, south of AMERICA's second A. Anthony Dalton submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 2-R-VI and Coppercoins as 1947P-1DR-001. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
