1946 (S) Walking Liberty Half Dollar - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001

Description

1946-S WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse on the 1946-S Walking Liberty half dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. A close Class II spread toward the center shows on IN of IN GOD WE TRUST, the sun rays and the gown's lower left, and the gown's far lower left is tripled. On the obverse, an E/W scratch lies under the right-side breast. The reverse is a doubled die too, listed by Wexler as 1946-S WDDR-002. It has a close spread on HALF's F, on the lower pine needles nearest the eagle, and on the plumage over both claws. It also carries a repunched mint mark, 1946-S WRPM-001, an S/S North, and light scratches run north above the eagle's head. Brian Raines submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
