1946 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-011

Description

1946-D WDDO-011 is a doubled die obverse on the 1946-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A very weak Class II spread toward the center is clearest on the 6 of the date and on the designer's initials. The obverse is Type I. In the upper ear area there is a gouge (dot) along with a NE/SW gouge, and a scratch runs WNW from roughly the left center of the L in LIBERTY. The reverse carries the doubling of the doubled working hub WWHR-001. The upper oak leaf has a gouge at its top, and a short scratch lies beside the upper left part of the torch holder. Joe Feld submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
