1946 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-003

Description

1946-D WDDO-003 is a doubled die obverse on the 1946-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A strong spread is visible on the date. The obverse is Type I. Both sides are in a very late die state (VLDS), and Wexler records nothing significant as a marker on either the obverse or the reverse. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. The entry's comments say the variety was first listed as WDDO-016 and was renumbered after the doubled obverse working hub was found, which left large gaps in the listings. They add that an earlier die state coin will probably show doubling on the designer's initials and on IN GOD WE TRUST. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
