Description
1945-S WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 1945-S Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A counterclockwise (CCW) spread pivoting from 7:00 appears on LIBERTY and the ribbon's bottom, and slightly on IN GOD WE TRUST. On the obverse, several circular scratches cross the cheek. A crack crosses the forehead top from WSW to ENE and runs into the hair atop the head, and another crack crosses the front of the bust's base. On the reverse, a scratch heads ENE off the I of UNITED from its lower right; several SW-to-NE scratches lie between the D in UNITED and the first S of STATES, near their bottoms; and a crack descends the eagle's right wing. William P. Waring submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
