Documented by VarietyVista with S/S South displacement using MMS-004 (Trumpet Tail), this San Francisco Wheat Cent identifies both directional shift and the specific mintmark punch style. Die markers: UVC-205, DMR-006. Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed). Stage B: Obverse is MDS; reverse is LDS. Stage C: Obverse is LDS; reverse is VLDS. The reverse reaching VLDS while the obverse is only at LDS documents asymmetric die wear caused by deeper reverse design elements concentrating striking forces. The Trumpet Tail designation (MMS-004) identifies a specific S punch variant with a flared terminal, allowing researchers to track which tools were in service at various periods. Struck at San Francisco in 1945, composed of 95% copper, 5% tin/zinc (3.11 g, 19.05 mm).
