Description

1945 WDDO-010 is a doubled die obverse on the 1945 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A very close clockwise (CW) spread pivoting from 2:00 appears on the TR of TRUST and on IN. On the obverse, a scratch extends ESE off the B in LIBERTY from its top right side, just right of the lower Y there is a small gouge, and SW of the ribbon's bottom there is another small gouge. The reverse is itself a doubled die, listed in the Wexler files as 1945 WDDR-002: a spread toward the center appears on the branch ends and on the letters of QUARTER DOLLAR and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Its markers: a small gouge touching the I in UNITED on its lower left side; a short scratch heading northeast from the middle of the right side of the D's upright in UNITED; and a curving scratch over the left branch end. Tony Russo submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
